History of flashlights (Part 1)

In the 1890’s, American ever ready company founder cibrad hubert lit up new york city with the help of drycell batteries and his newest invention, the electric hand torch. Hubert, a Russian immigrant, experimented with everything from electric tie tacks to electric flower pots before aquiring a patent for the first Everyready flashlight in 1998. the first flashlight was made from crude paper & fiber tubes with a bulb & a brass reflector. Because batteries were weak & bulbs in their infancy, Flashlights of the time only produced a breif flash of light thas why the name flashlight!

1998 - the first everyready flashlight was produced
1902 - First every ready trademark appeared on end caps of flashlights
1906 - Ever ready product changed to EveReady
1910 - Eveready introduced the tungsten filament bulb
1926 - Eveready introduced the company’s first flashlight with a ring hanger, giving consumers the ability to hang or store the product wherever they need to.
1937 - the first Eveready pre-focused flashlight bulb was introduced - the preassmbled bulb and reflector provided a more efficient product by eliminating as much ambient light as possible
1956 - Eveready aquired V.K. Song & Co. Ltd (now Sonca) manufacturers of aluminium flashlights
1966 - Eveready rolled out its first theroplastic molded flashlight allowing energizer to develop lights in new shapes & sizes in an efficient process
